What is the Edexcel International GCSE?
Made for ages 14 to 16
International GCSEs are designed for learners in the 14 to 16 age range and use international examples and contexts.
Studied worldwide
They are studied in more than 80 countries and are accepted by universities around the world.
Same grades as the UK GCSE
Grades use the 9 to 1 scale and are comparable, grade for grade, with UK GCSEs.
Linear or modular
Linear courses have all exams at the end of two years. Modular courses let learners sit exams unit by unit when ready (modular is only available outside the UK).
A path to further study
An International GCSE leads on to International AS and A Levels, A Levels, university or work.
Skills as well as knowledge
Courses build problem solving, critical thinking, data handling and extended writing alongside subject knowledge.
Modular courses.
Economics, Accounting and Commerce
All three are modular: two units, each with its own exam. Learners can sit units when ready and in any order, resit them, then cash in for one overall grade.
Cash-in codes
To receive an overall grade, the unit results are combined with a cash-in code: 4XEC1 for Economics, 4XAC1 for Accounting and 4XCM1 for Commerce.
Grades 9 to 1
All Edexcel International GCSEs are graded from 9 (highest) to 1, with exams in June and November.
